「 足下の何かを見ようとして、目は上空を旋回し始めた。
凧糸を握る手と風の圧が引き合って、凧は震えながら上空に留まる。
回転は凧揚げでは御法度だ。
回る凧は揚がらない。
落ちた凧を命あるように留めるのは、やはり落ちるものではないか。
落ち続ける水はそのように与えられたのではないか。
デュシャンの通称「遺作」(《1落ちる水、2照明用ガス、が与えられたとせよ》Marcel Duchamp, 1946-66, mixed media, posthumously and permanently installed in the Philadelphia Museum of Art in 1969)にそのような光景を重ねた。
凧には何を描こう。これは真正面から問われる。
何せ、じっと見つめ合わなければいけない。
《水の落下》という絵のこと。
落ちながら、留める。
引かれながら、引く凧糸を握る手で筆を持つ。これはとても時間のかかる作業だった。
それから、落ちて来る物に対する恐怖というものもある。
どうか、小石を拾う子供たちの上には落ちないで。」(February. 2020)
